A Word From Ann Beccia, Director

I have had a wonderful and fulfilling career in education. My love for teaching blossomed after graduating from Villanova,, when left to teach English in Osaka, Japan. I returned home four years later with my love of teaching solidified. I pursued a Masters Degree in Special Ed, and taught elementary school and high school LA and English. I also hold an Administrative Degree in Education and was a LA curriculum specialist and a principal of a private special education school until June, 2003. In September 2003, I opened MSYC with the vision of creating a school community that honors young children’s natural curiosity about their world and support them on their journey to become life-long independent learners.

The process of discovery and learning begins in early childhood.

These experiences are stepping stones for shaping a child’s perception of the world and of themselves. At MSYC, we provide your child with a safe, nurturing learning environment with lots of opportunities for discovery and exploration. Within this environment, individuality is respected and children learn that their questions and ideas matter. We encourage children’s independence as well as their intellectual, social/emotional, physical, and creative development. It is the teachers’ job to provide an enriching, developmentally appropriate curriculum that draws on the children’s natural curiosities, interests, and experiences. We value an inclusive environment that respects the distinctive qualities of others and individual aspects of themselves. We partner with parents to promote and enhance the child’s development and growth.

Our Curriculum

At MSYC we believe that the learning that is a journey.  Children are encouraged to take time to explore, ask questions, share thoughts and ideas and make discoveries about the world around them and themselves.  The CT Preschool Framework is used as the backdrop for planning.  The CT Framework is an excellent curricular guide that supports learning in the areas of literacy, math, science, creative art, physical development and social emotional skills.  Children leave MSYC with the skills they need for a successful transition into kindergarten .
